Commitment to Community
Guardian Credit Union has taken pride in serving our community with various campaigns such as Dollars for Scholars, GuardianCares, and Seasons of Giving. These are just a few of the large campaigns that GCU has taken apart of. We have a meaningful commitment to ensure that our leadership in the area can make a difference for not only for our members, but for the surrounding community.
Seasons of Giving
The holiday season is a time for the community to come together. For the last ten years, GCU has raised over $60,000 for the Seasons of Giving Campaign. With our generous donations, GCU has been able to purchase food, coats, boots, and children’s toys for our own deserving members and their families. In exchange for donations, GCU offered pictures with Santa and other several items for members who donated. This campaign has provided various families with gifts that they could not afford during the holiday season.
GCU established the GuardianCares fundraising campaign as a way to enable members to select a local charity as a donations beneficiary through a voting process. GuardianCares facilitates community involvement for our members while allowing us to help countless individuals.
Launched in 2012, the most recent charity chosen is MADACC. GCU continues to raise funds for MADACC through the donations of our members in exchange for GCU memorabilia. Our staff also generously donates personal funds to support the cause.
The following charities have been recipients of the GuardianCares fundraising campaign donations:
- 2017 - MADACC (Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission)
- 2016 - CannedWater4Kids
- 2015 - Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative
- 2014 - Dryhootch of America
- 2013 - My Good Mourning Place
- 2012 - Free and Community Clinic Collaborative
GCU offers a unique scholarship program that is funded entirely by its employees. Our employees have the opportunity to donate $5.00 from every paycheck to the scholarship fund, with 100% of their contributions being used to fund various scholarships for our members. In exchange for their donations, GCU employees receive the option to participate in our casual dress code - a GCU shirt with jeans!
