3/25/20 - Guardian Credit Union Continues to Operate as an Essential Business

Dear Guardian Community:

As we all continue to adjust to new ways of living and doing business as a result of COVID-19, I want to assure you that we remain committed to our members. Under the Safer at Home Order issued by Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, we continue to operate as an “essential business.”

Managing Your Money

We know that having access to your funds and management of your finances is important to you. As we currently operate in a drive-thru only model, we encourage you to make full use of:

  • Online services – Online and mobile banking can be used at any time to view balances, transfer funds, make loan payments and more. The mobile app can also be used for electronic check deposit. Online account opening, online loan applications and online mortgage applications can also be submitted at any time.
  • Night drop – each of our currently open branches has a night drop that can be used for making a deposit or a loan payment at any time.
  • Our branch drive-thrus and ATMs, as well as the ATMs in the Alliance One Network
  • Our Member Contact Center – Our member contact center is available during regular business hours to handle your inquiries or direct you to the appropriate department. We thank you in advance for your patience as high call volume may lead to longer than average hold times. Call (414) 546-7450 to reach our Member Contact Center.
  • Use our 24-hour Guardian Line for telephone banking. Check balances, transfer funds and more by calling (414) 856-9323. Additional information on setting up your access code can be found here.

Avoiding Fraud and Scams

We have seen an increase in scams and fraudulent activity at this time. We urge you to exercise caution, especially when encountering phone calls, texts, emails and online offers and requests related to COVID-19. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offers these tips for avoiding scams. If you have concerns about your Guardian accounts, we encourage you to contact us at (414) 546-7450.

Helping our Members

As we navigate the current situation we have options to help you. Please call us at (414) 546-7450 to request additional information regarding how we can assist you.

3/24/20 - Guardian Credit Union Remains Available During Safer At Home Order

With the institution of the Safer at Home Order by Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, effective Wednesday, March 25, 2020, financial institutions continue to be identified as “essential businesses,” meaning we remain available to help our members as we operate in our drive-thru only model and provide support online and over the phone.

3/18/20 - Change in Branch Service in Response to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Dear Guardian Community:

Guardian Credit Union continues to monitor the developments related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The situation is rapidly changing, and we are making adjustments to our operations as necessary for the health and safety of our members and employees. Beginning Thursday, March 19, 2020, we will temporarily suspend general lobby service and shift to a drive-thru only model of service. Our South Milwaukee Branch, which does not have a drive-thru, will be closed but the ATM will remain accessible. Members who typically use that branch are encouraged to use the drive-thru at the Oak Creek Branch nearby if they need to visit a branch.

The branch drive-thrus will be open during regular business hours. Any changes to those hours will be updated on our website.

Most transactions can be accomplished through the drive-thru. In the event that you request a transaction that cannot be easily accomplished through the drive-thru, we will do our best to find a way to accommodate it.

If you have a scheduled appointment at a branch location for a loan closing or other service, we will be reaching out to you to discuss arrangements. It is our commitment to continue to work with our members to the best of our abilities to provide the products and services you need while balancing the health and safety needs of the current situation.

We continue to strongly recommend that you take advantage of the many ways that you can perform transactions on your accounts and access our services from home, including:

  • Use online banking. If you do not have an existing online banking account, you can create one quickly and easily. You’ll be able to check balances, transfer funds, make loan payments, pay bills and more. And with the use of the Guardian Credit Union mobile app, you can electronically deposit checks as well. Click here for additional information regarding online and mobile banking.
  • Apply for a loan or a mortgage online or call (414) 546-7450 to speak with a loan officer.
  • Visit one of our ATMs or one of the surcharge-free ATMs in the nationwide Alliance One Network.
  • Utilize the night drop box at our branch locations, excluding South Milwaukee. Deposits in the night drop will be processed throughout the day.
  • Use our 24-hour Guardian Line for telephone banking. Check balances, transfer funds and more by calling (414) 856-9323. Additional information on setting up your access code can be found here.
  • Call our member contact center at (414) 546-7450. Our member contact center can handle most banking needs or direct you to someone who can. Please be mindful that you may experience longer wait times due to the increase in call volume.

Although we are limiting in-person interaction, our team remains working behind the scenes to meet your needs.  If you are experiencing an economic hardship caused by the COVID -19 situation, please contact our Collections Department to discuss options we have to assist you.

We will continue to closely monitor the situation and re-open lobby service when public health conditions allow.

Thank you for your continued membership and loyalty during these times.

Sincerely,

Kevin Nitka

Dear Guardian Community:

Because the health and safety of our members and employees is a top priority, Guardian Credit Union has been actively monitoring the developments related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Our management team is meeting frequently to review the situation and take appropriate actions as necessary.

• Use online banking. If you do not have an existing online banking account, you can create one quickly and easily. You’ll be able to check balances, transfer funds, make loan payments, pay bills and more. And with the use of the Guardian Credit Union mobile app, you can electronically deposit checks as well. Branch Drive-Thrus and Lobby Usage

While branch offices remain open for now, we strongly encourage you to use the drive-thrus for transactions whenever possible. Our branch drive-thrus can handle most transactions including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and cashier’s checks/money order requests. Please note that extra ID verification steps may be necessary for your protection. If you have a more complex transaction such as debit card printing, wire transfers, debit card disputes, or need to meet with one of our new account or loan reps, we are available normal business hours. We also ask that you do not enter any branch if you are experiencing respiratory or flu-like symptoms. While in a branch office, we ask that you observe an appropriate social distance of 6 feet between yourself, other members, and our staff.

We will continue to monitor the situation as it develops and evaluate additional measures to support our members and community.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We will get through this together.

Sincerely,

Kevin Nitka

A Message Regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Amid growing concerns about the global spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to make you aware of additional precautions Guardian Credit Union is taking to help keep our staff and members healthy. At this time, we remain committed to uninterrupted operations, but with some additional protections in place.

These measures include:

  • Increasing the presence of hand-sanitizing stations at each branch for our members and employees
  • Heightening the cleaning procedures at our branches
  • Asking our branch staff to take additional precautions to keep their hands and workstations clean, which may include sanitizing or washing their hands between members
  • Ensuring that our staff are informed about COVID-19 and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) advice, and requesting that staff who aren’t feeling well stay home from work
  • Temporarily suspending self-serve popcorn in our branches.

The health and well-being of our employees and our members is our top priority. As we continue to learn more about COVID-19, we encourage you to follow the CDC’s recommendations.

We ask that members who are sick and those looking to avoid potential contact with individuals who may be sick, consider the following alternatives to visiting our branch lobbies.

  • Use online banking. If you do not have an existing online banking account, you can create one quickly and easily. You’ll be able to check balances, transfer funds, make loan payments and more. And with the use of the Guardian Credit Union mobile app, you can electronically deposit checks as well. Click here for additional information regarding online and mobile banking.
  • Apply for a loan or a mortgage
  • Visit one of our ATMs or one of the surcharge-free ATMs in the nationwide Alliance One Network.
  • Use our 24-hour Guardian Line for telephone banking. Check balances, transfer funds and more by calling (414) 856-9323. Additional information on setting up your access code can be found here.

We encourage you to exercise extra vigilance when it comes to your investments and personal information. The Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions (DFI), has released recommendations for safeguarding your investments. Should you have concerns about your Guardian accounts, we encourage you to contact us.

We continue to monitor the situation and evaluate additional measures to keep our employees and members healthy.

We appreciate your cooperation and thank you for your patience.
