Budget-Friendly Summer Vacation Ideas

Summer is quickly approaching, and we at Guardian are ready to have some fun on a budget. Going on vacation doesn’t have to break the bank. Continue reading for ideas for some inexpensive, fun trips and get ready to pack your bags.

The Beach – With planning and some preparation, going to the beach doesn’t have to be an expensive trip. If you pack a cooler with snacks and a picnic lunch (depending on how long you are planning on staying) you can have a great beach day on a budget. View here for the full list of beaches in Wisconsin to find the closest ones to you.

State Parks – There are so many state parks to enjoy all over the state of Wisconsin and beyond. Try having a picnic after a hike at one of the many beautiful parks that Wisconsin has to offer. Some of these parks also have designated swimming areas where you can swim and enjoy the beaches they have to offer. Most parks are free to visit, but some require a vehicle admission sticker to be able to park your car. This is a great and affordable way to see some cool places while also getting some exercise. Camping – This might not be as inexpensive as some of the other ideas, but it is possible to have a good time while camping on a budget. The biggest expense is the gear that you will need for camping. If you don’t already own a tent to use, try borrowing one from a close friend or family member. If you want to make camping a regular thing, investing in your own gear might be the best option. It can be a little pricey at first, but if you take care of your gear, it can last you many years. Another major part of camping is planning and budgeting for the food you will eat. If you are planning to camp at a larger campsite, they may offer concessions for you to eat at. These tend to be on the pricier side, so taking time to plan and budget a meal plan is the cheaper option. Visit here to see all of the state campgrounds in Wisconsin.

Explore a close-by new city – Going on vacation doesn’t always have to mean traveling far away. Chances are there is a city that you can travel to with a car that you haven’t been able to. Try doing some research on close-by towns and find one or a few that you have never been to. Making a day trip to a new city to see new sites and try new food is a great way to spend a summer day.

Living on a budget this summer doesn’t have to be dull. There are so many different things that you can do to make your summer eventful and fun while also reaching your financial goals. Get ready to embark on some budget-friendly adventures.
