Guardian Credit Union President & CEO to Retire in January 2026
MILWAUKEE – June 17, 2025 – Kevin Nitka, President and Chief Executive Officer of Guardian Credit Union, announced his decision to retire effective January 31, 2026. He has been in leadership roles with GCU for more than 30 years, with the last 10 serving as CEO.
“His guidance has been invaluable while leading our credit union,” stated Bob Jelinek, Chairman of our Board of Directors. “We are grateful for his dedication, communication at all levels, and direction of many important team driven accomplishments during this transformative period.”
Following his retirement, Kevin will continue to serve on the Board of Directors and concentrate his efforts in helping Guardian Credit Union continue on the path of success.
“I am very grateful for all the professional opportunities I have had during my career at GCU and the support I have received in working alongside our employees will forever hold a special place in my heart,” said Nitka. “I am truly filled with a sense of pride for the work we have done together and all our achievements from these past years.”
A dedicated search committee has been formed to select the next CEO. This committee will be led by Guardian Credit Union HR Committee Chair Rose Bartkowiak and joined by Supervisory Chair Darci Middaugh and Vice Chairman John Bosbous. Together, they will review both internal and external candidates and recommend the next CEO to the full Board of Directors for final approval.
