How to Have Fun This Fall Without Breaking the Bank

The days are getting shorter, and the temperatures are starting to cool. The leaves are beginning to change from a deep green to various shades of yellow, red, and orange. People are trading in their tank tops and sandals for cozy flannels and boots. All of these are telltale signs of one thing: Fall is on the horizon!

With the change of seasons rapidly approaching, it’s time to consider how you’re going to spend your beautiful fall days. Enjoying the scenery of the next few months doesn’t have to break the bank; here are a few ways you can make the most of this fall season.

Take a hike – A hike is a great (and oftentimes free) way to enjoy everything fall has to offer. Throw on a light coat and pack a few of your favorite snacks and hit the trails to see the changing of the leaves up close!

Go for a drive to see the leaves change – If hiking isn’t your thing but you still want to check out the leaves changing color, consider taking a drive instead! You can still see the breathtaking autumn scenery, just from the warmth and comfort of your car.

Carve pumpkins – Pumpkin carving is a true fall staple. You can pick up pumpkins from most stores for fairly cheap, or you can make a day out of it by visiting a pumpkin patch, which often has other activities on site to get even more bang for your buck! As a bonus, we recommend roasting the seeds for a delicious fall treat.

Visit an apple orchard – Here’s another fall staple! Make a day out of it by visiting an apple orchard. You can spend time picking apples, and then continue the fun by making caramel apples or creating a tasty batch of homemade apple cider!

Have a bonfire – With the weather cooling down, there’s no better place to warm up than next to a bonfire. This is another cheap option as it doesn’t require any travel or entry fees, and you can do it right from home.

Have a Halloween movie marathon – It wouldn’t be fall without a little fright! Celebrate the new season with a movie marathon of all your favorite Halloween classics. It’s even more fun with a friend!
